As always when things start to build up towards where I want them to be, it inevitably falls back apart.

At least I quit smoking I guess.

It would appear that I am about to take out a loan in the amount of $2500.

This is so I can buy tools, lots of them, which in turn will make me money at work.

Even with $2500 worth of tools, I still have so much more money to spend on tools it's not even funny.

Tool box [Jan. 22nd, 2007|10:24 pm]

Craftsman professional tool box. 36" wide 7 drawer cab and 5 drawer top chest. Retail was about $2500. I got a killer deal for $1455. Now all I need is a bunch of tools to fill it with.

Sure [Dec. 14th, 2006|08:22 pm]

[music |light grenades]

So. Things have been interesting lately.

Been doing the whole school and work thing for a long time. It's starting to get very old, especially the work part. I'm thinking about finding a new job because UPS is just to stressful and it takes up to much of my sleep time.

So yesterday our instructors, the dean, and the program director told us that VC Tech is going to be shut down and we are the last class. They say that everything offered to us still stands and everything will be the same, but I don't believe that crap. All the instructors are going to be trying to find a new job, not teach us. So that kind of fucks things up. Come to find out today that 5 of the instructors have already applied at bessemer tech. So I'm going to be talking to a rep from Bessemer Tech tomorrow to find out more about their school. I know now that its a hell of a lot cheaper ($6,800 vs the $30K at VC Tech). But I would probably end up taking a toyota specific course because their basic automotive course is not as comprehensive as VC's is. And I don't know if they have the specialty courses that VC offered, and that kind of sucks. So I'm not totally psyched about this move maybe, but I don't want to stay at a school thats not going to come through with everything they promised.

Also today at school I was throwing an engine block into the bed of a truck with the help of some people and long story short ended up having it dropped on my hand and cutting me in between my index and middle finger. Still debating whether or not to go to the doctor to see if i need stitches.

Overall it appears I am in another transitional period like the one I was in when I was considering moving from UA to VC Tech. Only now its from a school I really enjoy thats getting shut down, possibly to a school I'm not really sure I want to go to because I feel like i won't get everything I want out of it. Not to mention the fact that my instructor now is probably the coolest and most knowledgeable car guy I've ever met.

Come January, I might be starting ANOTHER college. Oh yeah, and Tuscaloosa people. I promise to come visit soon. I miss hanging out with everyone down there.

peace out.

[music |The Mars Volta]

Yesterday, the state of California created quite a stir with the filing of a lawsuit against the six largest automakers in the United States, blaming them for the consequences of global warming. The U.S. Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers has since issued a response to the suit. John Merchant, chairman of the organization referred to the legal action as a "public nuisance." He said "activist attorneys general who abuse our legal system and impose a system of 'government by lawsuit' to gain publicity and further their own political agenda do so at the expense of the people they are paid to represent. Inevitably the costs of litigation in cases like this will be passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices. Just what we all need."

"Today's autos are 99 percent cleaner than a generation ago," the Alliance said in a statement. "Automakers are now selling more than 45 models of alternative fuel autos, including hybrids, ethanol-capable vehicles and clean diesel autos, and many more models are in development for future introduction."

"Californians each emit about 2.5 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2 - a greenhouse gas) every day just by breathing," Merchant said.0 "If you multiply 2.5 pounds of CO2 per day by 36 million Californians by 365 days, that's more than 16 million tons of CO2 just from breathing. Talk about a public nuisance … and don't even get me started on the methane people produce." -Left Lane News

The U.S. sate of California filed a lawsuit today against GM, Ford, Honda, Chrysler, Toyota, and Nissan for the "public nuisance" they have created by building and selling millions of vehicles that contribute to global warming. "Vehicle emissions are the single most rapidly growing source of the carbon emissions contributing to global warming, yet the federal government and the automakers have refused to act," Attorney General Bill Lockyer said.

"It is time to hold these companies responsible for their contribution to this crisis," Lockyer said.

Oil consumption [Sep. 13th, 2006|12:46 pm]
[music |Rage against the machine]

The world has used up only 18 percent of the total supply of crude oil, said Abdallah S. Jum'ah of state-owned Aramco. At the current level of consumption, the Earth's supplies should last another 140 years, Jum'ah said. But experts point out if consumption increases incrementally, the supply would only be enough to last until roughly 2070. -Left lane news

In the words of a great man, George Sawaya, "If I was allowed to burn an entire field of oil, I would... just to watch it burn."

My own personal opinion, I think oil could last as long as Jum'ah said, with all the advancements with alternate fuel sources. So while I think gasoline combustion engines will always reign over everything else, not everyone agrees with me. In the future for all we know, half the world could be driving hydrogen, electric, or some other car powered by something other than gasoline.

In any case though, I doubt oil will run out in the time I'm still alive.

[mood | happy]
[music |Thursday]

So things lately have been going pretty well. But today made me feel a little down. I guess it's just because I'm back in Bham. Everyone moved back to Tuscaloosa over the weekend so now I'm pretty much going to sit at home until work. I still have little over a month before I start school to fill that gap up. So until then it's going to be, sleep then work all week and Tuscaloosa fun time on the weekend. I am starting to regret moving out of Tuscaloosa, but I think most of that will fade when I start school.

Now more than ever, I'm ready for new things to start.

I'm happy.

10000 days [May. 2nd, 2006|10:38 pm]
[mood | impressed]
[music |Tool - The Pot]

So I bought the new Tool CD (which everyone needs to go and buy right now), it is so unlike any of there other releases, it has a whole new amazing sound.

On another note though, Tool's CD was leaked about 2 weeks before the release date, only it really wasn't. This is why Tool is awesome.

So, the ftp server that had the cd on it, was given to radio stations so that they could play the new single , vicarious, but something went "wrong" and the server was open to the public for a few minutes and was leaked to the public. It made its rounds on the interweb and people downloaded it, only everyone was sorely dissapointed with how it sounded. The AWESOME part about this is, it appears Tool themselves leaked a fake album intentionaly, to create even more hype when the actual CD came out today. So everyone that tried to illegaly download the new album, got a fake one that Tool had made.

They did something like this with lateralus. They released the album name and track list, which were fake. Not until around 2 weeks before the actual release date did they announce the actual track listing and CD name.

Tool rocks.

[music |X-Play]

So, I'm off all week. Paid vacation, fun times.

Lost at poker last night, no big deal, but it was fun.

Tomorrow is my birthday. Don't know what to get yet. Probably some more RAM for the computer and F.E.A.R.

I just bought Final Fantasy VIII and the strategy guide. So this week will consist of my Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and X. Almost done with X, but George and I want to replay VII and VIII, only while collecting everything possible in the game.

Looks like it will be a good week. Oh yea, and more poker tomorrow.

Beach trip [Mar. 19th, 2006|01:14 pm]
[mood | nauseated]

So, I was down at the beach on thursday early in the morning, got some food, went and chilled on the beach for a while. About 1 everyone else showed up to join Becca and I.

Then the fun started.

So I got a little sick, you know, stomach pains and such, went back to the room and took my medicine. Only to throw it right back up. Went back to the beach, pains didn't go away, went back to the room again to throw up.

After a few more toilet hugging moments I had to call Becca and get her to take me to the hospital. There I spent four hours in a drugged up haze. Then I left feeling like shit, passed out once back in the room and that's all she wrote.

The next day I slept all day, had my parents come and pick me up and I was back in hoover. I still don't feel 100% because anytime I eat something I feel nauseous.

All in all, my beach trip was sitting on the beach for about 4 hours, throwing up 5 times within 2 hours, and spending 4 hours at the hospital in a drug enduced haze.
